Premier League champions City dominated at West Ham, with Pep Guardiola’s men going 2-0 up after 52 minutes.
And City thought they’d made it 3-0 two minutes later through Gabriel Jesus.
Raheem Sterling and David Silva played a perfect one-two, with the England international squaring the ball to Jesus to tap home.
City’s stars celebrated, thinking they had wrapped up all three points.
However, VAR ruled Sterling was offside by a matter of millimetres before he squared the ball to Jesus.
The decision was displayed on the screens at the Olympic Stadium, with West Ham fans greeting the message with cheers.
Sterling was furious with the decision and had a heated conversation with referee Mike Dean.
The City forward was also seen screaming ‘f*** off!’ at the decision to rule out their third goal.
