Roma will only sign Alexis Sanchez from Man Utd on one condition after Solskjaer decision | Football | Sport

The Chilean’s move to Old Trafford has been nothing short a disappointment since he arrived in January 2018, now he could finally be set for an exit which has been brewing since last summer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to get Sanchez’s £505,000-a-week wages off the books, so the club can embark on a new structure.

It’s believed that the figure is being used as a benchmark by players during contract negotiations and by transfer targets looking to move to the club.

According to The Sun, Roma want to sign him on loan but only if Manchester United are willing to share out his wages.

A source at the Italian club also confirmed to RomaPress that they have been offered the chance to sign Alexis and are also willing to pay a large portion of his salary.

Sanchez currently earns around three times that of Roma’s current highest earner Javier Pastore.

The 30-year-old was said to be involved in a training ground spat with youngster Mason Greenwood.

Now Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is threatening to banish him into the reserves unless he agrees to move before the end of the European transfer deadline.

He scored just one Premier League goal last season, adding just one more in all competitions at his former club Arsenal in the FA Cup.

Solskjaer claimed after his side beat Chelsea 4-0 in style that the frontman was getting closer to full fitness.

“Alexis [Sanchez] came in very late, so he’s had now almost two weeks of training,” he said.

“He’s had a game behind closed doors against Blackburn.

“He’s getting closer to full fitness, so no worries about that.”

Roma could play Sanchez up top if they are to land him on loan.

There is still uncertainty surrounding the future of their main man Edin Dzeko, who has been linked with a move to Inter Milan.

Daniel James is ahead of Alexis in the pecking order as it stands after firing a goal on his full debut.

Alexis’ contract runs until 2022 and United are desperate to cut ties with the forward before then.
