Jose Mourinho broke down in tears after being shown a photo of his late father, Felix Mourinho.

The former Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea boss gave a rare emotional interview with El Chiringuito TV where he reflected on his relationship with his dad.

Felix Mourinho had an accomplished career as a goalkeeper and manager before sadly passed away in 2007 aged 79.

Jose was shown a photo of him and his dad, who made one appearance for the Portugal international team, across the river from where the interview was taking place.

And the 2010 FIFA world coach of the year had to wipe away his tears when discussing the impact his father had on his career.

“Don’t make me cry now,” Mourinho said.

“What I learned as a coach, as a man, the lessons I took for my career, for my life is what I remember best. It was fantastic.”

Mourinho is currently without a club and is doing some punditry work for Sky Sports until he finds the right challenge.

In a separate interview with Portuguese TV Channel 11, the 56-year-old picked his favourite managerial job to date.

He said: “Real Madrid was my best experience because of what I learned as a coach as a man and for the lessons that I took in my career and in my life.

“It is the best memory of my career, it was fantastic.

“What they asked me at Real Madrid suited my nature.

“They told me the best team in Spain was from the other side, that they were crushing us and we had to reverse the situation.

“We had to prevent Barca from crushing us and that’s why the Mestalla Cup final is the most important (trophy he won).

“From there nothing was the same. We won the League, the Super Cup, but nothing was like the Cup final and I unfortunately failed to win the three Champions semi-finals.”
