Messi on Neymar
Barcelona star Lionel Messi has admitted he wanted the club to re-sign Neymar from PSG during the transfer window.
The duo spent four years together between 2013 and 2017 before the Brazil international jumped ship to the Parc des Princes in a world-record £200million deal.
And Messi has now opened up on the saga to Catalonian newspaper Sport, admitting he wanted Neymar to return.
“I wish he had come for what it would imply, not only at the sports level, but also at the club level for what it means at the club, sponsor, image, growth level,” he said. “The club would have taken a leap too. But hey, it didn’t happen.”
Lautaro Martinez agent
The agent of Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez has talked up his client’s chances of joining compatriot Lionel Messi at Barcelona.
Martinez has scored ten goals in 37 appearances for Inter and shone on the international stage this week when netting a hat-trick against Mexico.
The 22-year-old was linked with a move to the Catalan giants over the summer – but a deal failed to materialise with Neymar their top priority.
“It would be great to see [Lautaro] alongside Leo at Barcelona,” said Martinez’s agent Alberto Yaque. “It was great to see him play that way, so loose and happy.”
Wanted: Fabian Ruiz
Liverpool have joined the ever-growing list of suitors interested in Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz.
Barcelona and La Liga rivals Real Madrid were recently credited with interest in the Spain international.
Ruiz, 23, won the Player of the Tournament at the 2019 Under-21 European Championships and has been a mainstay for Carlo Ancelotti’s Napoli – making 42 appearances over the last two campaigns
Now, Calciomercato claim Jurgen Klopp wants the £54million-rated midfielder at Anfield.
Paul Pogba swap deal
Manchester United are prepared to finally sell Paul Pogba to Real Madrid.
According to Spanish media outlet Diario Madridista, United will do business BUT only providing Toni Kroos plus cash is sent in return.
Zinedine Zidane’s side were trying to engineer a move for the French international but United’s £150million valuation prevent a summer transfer.
“Zidane has an obsession, which is still Pogba,” said Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda. “The French coach is a person of fixed ideas and insists on Paul.
“They will try in January and there have already been the first contacts with United. In the conversations that still exist between emissaries from Madrid and United, a name has been put – Toni Kroos.
“United tried to sign Kroos this summer and it is the one that United would ask for as a condition. For him they offered this summer £75m and that caused him to sign a new contract with Real.”
Ceballos in awe of Liverpool
Dani Ceballos has revealed that he was stunned by Liverpool’s performance during Arsenal’s recent defeat at Anfield.
The Real Madrid loanee played an hour of the 3-1 defeat that saw Mohamed Salah score twice and Joel Matip get on the scoresheet.
“I’ve never seen anything like what I saw at Anfield,” Ceballos told the Guardian. “I haven’t seen a team that plays better, that presses like them, the way the fans carry them along.
“They take the air from you. You spend so much time defending and when you want to do something with the ball, when you want to breathe, they’re back on top of you. They’re very well-drilled.”
