Everton, not Tottenham, are the “perfect fit” for Jose Mourinho, according to talkSPORT presenter Andy Goldstein.

Mourinho is the favourite to become the next Tottenham manager if Mauricio Pochettino was to leave the north London club.

However, Goldstein believes struggling Everton, who currently sit 18th in the Premier League table, would be a better move for the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss.

“I think Everton’s just the perfect fit,” Goldstein said.

“They’ve got millions to spend, they’re in the bottom three. I just think Everton’s the perfect fit.

“They’ve got money to spend, they’re desperate for success.

“When he was at Porto and when he was at Inter, biggish clubs but nowhere near the size of Manchester United and Real Madrid, that’s like Everton.

“I think it’s a perfect fit, he’ll have money to spend, he’ll have £300m and he’ll win them trophies, he’ll get them back into the top six again, dare I say it even top four.

“They’ll be expectation there but nowhere near like the expectation at White Hart Lane.”

Goldstein does not believe Mourinho would be given the funds he would want at Tottenham.

And he does not think Spurs should get rid of Pochettino either.

“I don’t think he’ll go to Spurs, my view, I don’t think he’ll go to Spurs,” Goldstein added.

“Spurs haven’t got the money. I don’t think he will get money at Spurs, I don’t, I don’t think they’ve got it.

“He needs £200million-£300m, they haven’t got that Tottenham. They’ve got a £1billion stadium [to pay for].

“I don’t think it makes any business sense at all to get rid of Pochettino.

“I think Spurs fans, you’ve got to be so careful what you wish for.

“I think he thinks he should be at a bigger club. He’s a great manager, he’s a great manager.”
